Prof. Steve Ward Co-Vice Chair

Steve Ward is the co-deputy director of the Consortium for Precision Health (CPH) at the
University of Bath. He co-founded the Centre for Therapeutic Innovation in 2017 and was the
co-Deputy Chair from 2019 to 2025. He was the Head of the Pharmacology Department
(2013-2019) and Associate Dean of Internationalisation (2020-2024). He has many external
grant panels such as Accelerating Diagnosis and Treatment, Versus Arthritus and the Pool
of experts BBSRC. His laboratory has focussed on the biochemical mechanisms that
facilitate inflammation, specifically on the PI3kinase pathways and their role in inflammation.
Other sectors of his research have been drug targets in lung trans-differentiation and airway
disease, chemokine receptor internalisation and trafficking, and analysis of the spatio-
temporal regulation of phospholipids during T cell migration and activation.
